My new (well new-ish) doll!

I completely forgot to make a post and share that I got a new doll!

Meet Cassidy!

I bought her off eBay, so she is a pre-loved dolly.  She is #39 and is probably my closest look-a-like doll now.  

I knew I wanted to customize her, so decided on giving her blue highlights in her hair.  I decided to sew hair wefts into her hair to make them permanent.  I used the method in this video.  And these are the hair wefts I used.  If you want to do this method on your doll, remember it is quite permanent and very difficult to remove.  

I absolutely adore this doll and can't wait to see what adventures we go on!

Doll STEM Camp!

The wonderful bloggers over at Doll Days are doing an awesome thing this summer.  Since not everyone can go to space camp this summer, they decided to host a STEM online camp!

Long time, no blog

Hi ho, how are you doing?

Great, I have been quite busy the past month.  I am working on a huge craft and it's coming together, but I still have a few touches here and there.  I will share that once it's done.  I want to do a review on a few things I bought still too.  And I wanted to make a post to share about my new-to-me doll, Cassidy.  I will get those ready as soon as I find a minute.

I am sort of active on my Instagram account: everythingoddsandends, so if you want to see what I am doing there, it's the place to find me.  I share on the stories there quite a bit about what I'm working on.

I did start a sewing project too I would like to finish, but my carpal tunnel gets the best of me at times.  Argh.

So I thought I would drop a line and let you all know what is going on.  I am so excited for Z's release, I do want her.  I hope to buy her by the end of the year, with a ton of her accessories.  I love it!

It's been a while...

Oops.  Long time no blog, he he.

Raising a puppy is a bit harder than we planned.  Our first corgi was very easy going and pretty easy to train, our second one, not as much.  I have to spend a lot of time making him understand our world while trying to understand his.  It may take a while, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

Anyways, I bought fabric for this project I am starting several months ago and want it finished by winter time.  That may be asking a lot of myself, but I think I can do it.

TA DA!

I have wanted to make this Anna costume for my doll for ages.  I bought the patterns almost two years ago.  So far I have cut out all the pattern pieces, which took quite a long time.  And I have cut out the fabric pieces for the bodice, skirt, and vest.  I am going to save the cloak and gloves for after I finish the dress portion.

I am very excited to get back into it.  I love sewing and have wanted to pick up a project, so I thought why not this one.  I will try to update as much as I can, as I work, but like I mentioned raising a puppy is tough and he will be my number one priority at the moment.

Exciting news!

I just made a huge decision and purchase.  I have been going on eBay for the past few weeks trying to find a good price on this doll and I finally scored one.

I won't tell just yet, but she is retired and I have personally wanted to add this doll to my collection for years.  Can you guess?

I forgot to take a picture, but I sent Emily off to the Doll Hospital today!

I hope to get her back soon.  So let's hope for a quick hospital visit.

TV, Blu-ray/DVD Player, & Remote!

Over the summer I had some fun crafting and creating!  I watched a MyFroggyStuff's video and I thought I could do that too.  So I set to work and it turned out pretty cool.

I was planning on posting this sooner, but AG released a set with all of the things I made, so I thought no one would be interested, but I wanted to share because I worked hard on it.  All of these crafts were made with recycled paper board (thin cardboard), plastic from old packaging, nail file or sand paper, glue, scissors, and small rhinestones (I was going to use punched out foam until I found the rhinestones, so either works!).  So it was a fairly simple, but time consuming craft.

So here we go!

I wanted to make a TV for my doll that could have the slides change with different scenes, so I found some plastic from an empty package and started to experiment.

As you can see, I had to use quite a bit ot hold up the TV.  I do like how it turned out though.  I haven't made any scenes to go into the TV yet, but I will make some soon!

And here is a side view of the TV.  I used small rhinestones as the buttons.

To go with the TV, I knew I needed a remote.  It may be a little small, but I don't mind.  I even made it so the rhinestones correlate with the buttons on the TV.

Lastly, I made a Blu-ray/DVD Player.  I wanted to make it so you could put in a disc, and I love how it turned out.

I made a test disc to show how it worked.  I plan to make a set of movies for my doll when I can.

Alright, well I suppose that is it!  I'm not going to make a how-to craft on this because it was a test project and I followed an already made tutorial, but I wanted to show you what I made.

And here is Emily watching...well, nothing right now, but soon she will have all kinds of things to watch!  And I need to make a stand for the electronics too!

TENT POLES CAME!

You have no idea how excited I was when the UPS guy came to our door today.  I had no idea that Our Generation would be sending the tent poles via UPS, but appreciate it all so much!  The tent poles and connectors came in their packaging.

I think my tent is around 12 to 13 years old.  I'm not sure really.  I just know I've had it for quite awhile.  Here it is flat out of the bag it comes with.  Mine isn't really all that different from those out now, just mostly different coloring.

It's main color is orange, with pink sides and blue accents.

Putting the tent together is quite easy.  I remember it being kinda tricky the first time I put it together, but the rods a bit smaller than the set that came with the tent (the old rods are actually quite bent too, not sure what I am going to do with them yet)  But the new ones still fit perfectly.

The connector at the top holds it all together.

And here we have the tent!

The logo is on the left door.  Like I said it's over ten years old and this was the logo back then.

The doors open and you can tie them open.  For closing them, there is hook and loop tape (Velcro) to keep them closed.

And the other side with the window open.  You can see inside of the tent.  The windows are a mesh material, just like on a real tent.

I cleaned Coconut today and she looks better than she has in quite a while.  And here she in the tent.

I added the sleeping bag I have that was also bought when the tent was.  I have a better look at it on this post.

It would comfortably fit two dolls if you want too.

I put Emily inside to show you how she fits inside.  I should have used a camera with a flash, but I hope to do a photo shoot outside with all of the fun camping things I have been working on lately.  I have a few more ideas to do too!

I am going to ramble for a bit now.  The reason I wanted to get new tent pole connectors and not just buy a new tent, was because this tent bought for me by my grandmother.  She was ecstatic when I got my American Girl doll.  She bought me a few outfits that Christmas I received her.  And she promised to make a tent for her when we were at JoAnns buying patterns to make clothes for her.  But she never got around to it, so she bought this for me.  About five years ago my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.  Everything happened quickly after she was diagnosed.  She doesn't remember me anymore, but I feel that those moments we had like when she bought me this tent were special.  And that's why I was so happy when Our Generation said they would send the tent poles to me.  I hope they know how wonderful just that small gift of generosity was.

Update on Tent!

I emailed Our Generation last night and they got back to me this afternoon.

They said they would happily send along a new set of tent poles for free!  I am excited!  Hopefully it won't take too long to get here.

And I am going to make the activity over at Doll Camp Diaries today!  Or at least attempt it.  We shall see, I will share when I'm done!

Camp Doll Diaries / Camp It Up! / Sleeping Bag

You may have noticed a button on my sidebar and it says "I Am Going To Camp!"  A metaphorical camp, of course, although one day I would love to have a camp where there are children and dolls and crafts and fun.  But none the less, the ladies behind the wonderful blog that is Doll Diaries host this for the past couple of years, and it's Camp for you and your dolls from the convenience of your very own home.

Each week there is a theme and craft, so you can have fun each week making something new for your doll.  And as stated in the posts, you can do as little or all of the activities as you wish through the summer.  I may not do each week, but when I do, I will try to post them on here.  It gets a bit crazy with everything.

And now since I have your attention, I wanted to let you know that I am going to do something called Camp It Up! this summer.  I will make some camping inspired crafts, because it is something I have always wanted.  So look out for that!  And if you have any ideas, let me know because I have some, but I know there are other fun things out there!

For right now I wanted to tell you about my sleeping bag for my doll!  I have had this sleeping bag for a long time, probably 10 years.  I know, I know.  It is an Our Generation sleeping bag and I did have the matching tent, but since we moved last year and we had to downsize a lot, and I may have ended up throwing it away (I can't remember if it was broken or not, or I have just misplaced, I'm not sure).  I found the tent!  I am missing all the pieces all of the pieces though that hold it together.  I have the poles and tent though.  Hopefully I will find them, otherwise good ole tape to hold it together.  ; )  No tape doesn't work.  I emailed the company and asked if it's possible to replace them.  We shall wait and see.

I always liked this little sleeping bag, and the bag it came in.  It can fit on the doll's shoulder quite nicely and when it doesn't hold the sleeping bag you can fill it with goodies!

The pillows are from an old Our Generation bedding set I had.  I ended up throwing that bed away because it was plastic.  I think everything was plastic from them at one point.  But I loved the pillows so I kept them.

Tab For a Cause!

Hello everyone I am here, not with something doll related, but another awesome thing the internet has to offer.  This is something for Google Chrome users I believe, just as a side note.

I am a person who doesn't usually use the same tab twice, so I am constantly opening new tabs in my browser.  You can imagine how difficult it was before we even had tabs, and that doesn't even feel like that long ago.  Anyways I found this fun way for while you are browsing the internet you can be help save the world as well!

Tab for a Cause is an organization that helps "save the world one tab at a time."  I find that slogan to just be awesome.  Basically for every tab you open, you are raising money for charity.  You can click the link to take you to the site and they will explain everything in detail there.

If you would like to try this awesome thing, because trust me it is an awesome thing, then you can CLICK HERE and spread the love!  It gives you warm fuzzies and you are helping the world just by surfing the net.  Do they even call it "the net" these days?  I don't know.
